Teen Program

Wednesdays with Shinshinim

Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:30 PM

Activities and discussions with our Shinshinim (young Israelis) and NCSY Chapter Advisor ranging from the silly to the sublime, on the themes of Israel, Jewish ethics, and upcoming holidays.

Dinner always included.
*If a teen becomes a regular Wednesday night attendee, we ask for a $360 suggested donation to cover the cost of dinner for the year.

Regional Programs

Teens are invited to join city-wide and regional NCSY events, to meet other teens from around Montreal and beyond. These include Shabbaton trips, learning programs, and social events.

Volunteer Opportunities

Throughout the year, teens are invited to volunteer their time and talent within the congregation’s activities. For example, they might help with a Purim carnival or Chanukah party for younger kids. As part of the Shaar community, our teens are encouraged to give back.

Community Service

The Shaar offers many opportunities for teens to complete their community service hours: Monitoring our games/activities at our Purim and Chanukah celebrations Becoming a teacher’s assistant at Netivot Afternoon School Becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah Mentor Preparing meals at MADA Visiting the elderly at Place Kensington Assisting with Tot Shabbat and Shabbat in the Park
